june blog day 26 - moving sucks.

since I've said it a million times before I won't go on about how much moving sucks. currently helping my sister move so I don't have time to write a decent post today!

june blog day 25 - training tuesday

I'm pretty sure this will be a short training tuesday.  I feel as though I hit my 5k race mark and just stopped.  I'll find my motivation again someday!
first of all, 7 day slim down, not a TOTAL fail, but not a win that's for sure.  I actually stopped documenting it.  I like potatoes for supper too much.
I know I did a few walk/runs last week, and maybe half a workout here and there but I honestly can say I didn't do anything worth mentioning. 
except for monday!  Tam mentioned a couple weeks ago that she was doing an interval thing, 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off, pyramid style.  so of course I asked for her secrets.
did it Monday and holy hell it was the best workout ever!  attempted it Thursday and just didn't have the right mentality to do it but yesterday a co-worker and I did it at the gym.  sweat our non-existent balls off.  best workout of life.
basically you pick 10 random exercises and do them pyramid style.  do workout 1 & 2, then 1, 2, 3, then 1, 2, 3, 4, etc until you get to ten. 
not even kidding I haven't worked this hard in a class.  and I always quit stuff when I'm on my own.  it seems like it will last forever but with the tiny breaks it's over quicker then you think.
we only have about 40 minutes so we just picked 10 exercises and did it 35 seconds on 10 seconds off. someday I will make it to 50 on, 10 off!
from my memory this is what they were:
1. push ups 2. tricep kick backs 3. elevated lunges stepping on a bosu ball. 4. dumbbell row.  5. burpees with weights.  worst things of life. 6. abs.  we did bicycle crunches. 7. squats on a bosu. 8. overhead press. 9. tricep dips. 10. plank.
I can't remember if this is completely it but it's some version of this!

june blog day 24 - cleaning sucks!!

first and most importantly, go here, watch Linny's vlog, and become more obsessed with her then you ever have before.

second of all, cleaning SUCKS.  I am the absolute WORST at it!

I've been living in this house since April 1st.  that's 3 months.  this is the first time I've cleaned my fridge.

so now my question is: how often do you clean your god damn fridge!?

I mean, my mom cleans everything 24/7.  hell, she cleans if a cleaning lady is coming (I'm sorry mom but it's true!!).  me, on the other hand.  I clean when I move.

I think I've justified it by the fact that I have never lived in one place longer than eight months (and that's with a month off in the middle), so I just figured you never really have to do a DEEP clean in just a few months.

fuck was I wrong.

that fridge was disgusting.  and we don't even have food.  I honestly cannot remember the last time I cooked an entire meal at my house.  unless a protein pancake counts.

what's the acceptable time to go between fridge cleanings?  and I'm not talking wiping down a shelf or two.  I'm talking every single thing out, shelves in the bathtub, everything scrubbed/thrown out top to bottom clean!

this weekend I ... danced my pants of with one of my favourites.  a local band was playing at a new bar and we had a blast!  and enjoyed delicious Chinese food afterwards.  really a win win all around.

this weekend I ... laid on my parents deck as much as possible.  it was AMAZING out all weekend.  I'm talking 20-25 degrees ever day.  

this weekend I ... went to my mom's best friends retirement/birthday party.  their family is pretty much our family and we don't get to all get together too often so it was so much fun to catch up with everyone.  we kind of had a mini photo shoot...

app - artichoke and asiago dip

it counts as a recipe if you buy the above and about a cup of shredded cheese right? anytime I bring this anywhere people are asking for the recipe. mix the artichoke & asiago dip with a handful (so technical) of your favourite cheese, (mine's marble) and pop in the above until it's heated through. sometimes I sprinkle a bit of cayenne pepper one it and bake it in a bread bowl, maybe sprinkle some more shredded cheese on top. yum!

main - cheesy chicken enchiladas


these bad boys are my all time favourite meal to make. the recipe looks intimidating because it has a lot of steps but I promise you make it once and it's easy peasy lemon squeezy.

dessert - cake batter cookies


I am practically drooling looking at these. I can't tell you how good they taste! and you just throw in box of cake mix, a few other things and you're done. bake time is 10 minutes. can't beat that.

june blog day 19 - random ramblings

I want to buy a house. not today, not even this year, but eventually. and to do that I need money. which is something I do not have! unfortunately.

I always budget, sticking to it on the other hand, not so much. I will do really really good for one pay cheque and then completely go off track the next one. pay day is tomorrow, here's hoping I stay on track!

does anyone have any protein powder suggestions? I currently am still eating tone it up's perfect fit protein and it's brutal. the texture is so strange. it's like it never actually dissolves or something and the taste is something you can never mask. ever. please let me know any good kinds you've tried!

did you watch pretty little liars?? I almost don't want to watch it for the season and then spend a solid day watching the whole thing because it is that good!!

I don't think I am going to be doing a 'blog everyday in ___' after June again. I feel like I force posts out and just write about nothing (i.e. this post) to try and fill the day. I will definitely be finishing this month and plan on spending the weekend writing a bunch of kick ass posts to finish strong.

june blog day 18 - training tuesday!

so currently on day 2 of the 7DSD. not killing it but definitely not failing at it. to see exactly what I'm doing/eating check it here.

didn't do a damn thing last week after my run but I finally got back out monday. did a short 20 minute walk in the morning then did a 5 k after. I mixed it up and jogged a km then between every telephone pole did jog, walk, jog, sprint. my thighs are definitely feeling it today! 
this morning I did one of tone it up's cardio workouts then nothing the rest of the day. supposed to be doing an ab workout right now but pretty little liars is on so...

any tone it up fans out there?

I've been a member for awhile now and I really enjoy their workouts but I've never seriously stuck to their meal plan before.  I've attempted the 7 day slim down but it was kinda of a fail.  I only stuck to it for a couple of days.  that is until Tamara and I decided to do it together and actually hopefully stick to it!

basically the 7 day slim down is a strict day to day routine you follow when you are either in a plateau, need a kick in the ass, or are starting to change the way you workout/eat/live.  we're starting this monday, june 17th because we wanted to drink this weekend start on a monday.

I added a new page in the tabs along the top so check back there every day to see how we're doing.

have you ever done the 7 day slim down?  I do think the plan is a little too pricey at $150 bucks (CANNOT believe I paid that...) but I did learn a lot from it and do think it was worth it.  just sucked paying off that visa bill...

in other news.  Tamara has started up a DietBet!  you bet $25 dollars that you will lose 4% of your body weight in a month.  it's through the website so there are ways to avoid cheating and apparently a lot of people do it so it must be legit.  go here to sign up with us!

have any of you heard of the movie food, inc.? I just finished watching it and I definitely recommend it!

I don't think it's for the light of heart and I really don't think any vegetarians should watch it. it's not super brutal towards animals (like unfortunately some documentaries are) but it is still pretty rough.

I love animals just as much as the next guy and absolutely hate to see them getting hurt but I also believe in the food chain. I like meat and I don't think I could/would ever give it up completely. however this movie changed the way I will be buying a lot of it from now on.

now, obvi I'm not going to sit here and say that I will never go into sobeys and buy something from the other side of the world but I definitely will try not to

it mostly made my feel so bad for the little guys. the farmers who have owned their farms for hundreds of years are getting sued by huge companies for doing something they've done their whole lives. just don't make a whole lot of sense.

this past weekend I completed my first ever 5 km race!! woot woot!

I know 5 k isn't a lot to some people but it is to me!  I got to run with one of my best friends which made it ten times better (and I probably would have walked at least once if she wasn't there!).

we didn't plan on dressing like twins...

I think I have race fever.  there is another one this weekend that I want to enter so bad but I really need to save some cashola.

our official finish time was 28:45 which I am so so happy with.  better then any runs I have done on my own.

oh and did I mention that we ran in a tropical storm?  I'm talking 30+ mm of rain and winds like a mofo.  it wasn't until it was over did I realize how cold it was!

I had the absolute BEST supporters in the world!  my mom, dad, two sisters, niece and most AMAZING boyfriend were all at the finish line when I got there! (my bro had to work) and katie girl ran right out when she saw my cross the line!  pretty exciting moment for sure.

thank you thank you thank you a million times over to my family to be there!!!

maybe someday it will be 10 k or a half or maybe even a full marathon!
