remember when...

remember that time I used to be a blogger.  ya, me neither.

for some unknown reason I decided to go back to school.  2 weeks in and I'm wondering what the hell I was thinking.

I guess I was thinking about more dollar bills at the end of all this.  you all know how much a dollar makes me holla right!!

long story short I am going back for my CPA designation which is replacing what a CA and CMA used to be.  too many initials I know!  basically in three ish years I will be a certified accountant and know a bunch more stuff.

anyways, I miss you all my dear internet friends!  someday I will get back on here when I think of something intelligent to say :)

next on the list would be the vampire diarieswhich airs october 6th. I have a love/hate relationship with this show but I have high hopes for this season. it's about time they spiced up their story line. just realized I didn't watch the last episode so I'm pretty pumped to watch that later!

getting back on track - meaghan me fit

I have been a ridiculous slanker lately.  I've been getting to the gym at least once a week but other then that fitness has been MIA in my life.  I went for my first 5k Friday and it took 35 minutes.  ouch.
my first race was under 29 so that 35 hit hard.  I know it's better than nothing but I need to get my shit in gear.


took some advice from tamzilla and wrote out this schedule to help keep myself accountable and get back in shape for the corporate relay I'm signed up for in October.



basically I want to get running 3 times a week + spin class and hit the gym every other day.


intervals is the workout I wrote about at the bottom of this post.
you can change it to focus on whatever muscle you want to improve.

x 500m is just running hard for 500 m, jogging or walking for 500.  don't forget to warm up and cool down!

here's to hoping I stick to it!

first and foremost, veronica mars.



I freaking adored this show.  I think there are only 3 seasons and I'm pretty sure I watched them all in a month.  Kristen Bell is one of my favourite actors and I thought she was awesome in this.

this bad boy is a very close second


I remember watching this last season just being so in love with every character.  I was totally going to grow up and move to new york and have 5 best friends who sat around and drink coffee all day.
I got the coffee part right...

this one is more of a "I wish I could watch Lauren Conrad's life everyday..."



I love love love Lauren Conrad and wish she got her one show after the hills.  it would be amazing to have watched her get to where she is now.

BEACHES BEACHES BEACHES!!!

I live on a tiny Island surrounded by water so of course I love the beach!
I'm not a huge beach bum who could lay there all day everyday but I definitely try to get there every beautiful weekend.
it's just so relaxing and calm and pretty.
this isn't even a decent picture and it's still beautiful!
and can you really argue with this sunset?

food bit - chocolate chip banana muffins

if you follow me on instagram you know I made the most delicious chocolate banana muffins the other evening.


I followed the recipe my mom always used and they turned out amazing.  I made them in mini muffin trays so I would have a ton to take to work.  this recipe made 4+ dozen mini's and 6 regular sized ones.

ingredients:

dry:
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips (or nuts!)
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice

wet:
3 eggs
3/4 cup oil
2 cups mashed bananas

directions:
preheat the oven to 350.
mix the dry ingredients in one bowl, the wet in another.  once they are all mixed, add the dry to the wet.  use the muffin method and only mix until the ingredients are incorporated.  do NOT over mix!
nobody like a hard dry muff amiright?

 
bake regular sized muffins for 30 minutes, mini ones for 15. if you make a loaf, bake it for an hour.

tip:
ever bake a banana loaf and find the sides are browning perfectly and the middle looks raw?
take a sheet of tin foil, cut out a rectangle (the size of the raw part of the loaf), cover with the tin foil and throw back in the oven so that everything is covered except the raw part.
no clue how this works but that's a tip from my momma and it works!

I'm going to make this just my summer bucket list so it's a bit shorter.

no more sunburns.
you would think by now I would learn to put sunscreen on but at least once a year I get burnt.  this year it was the worst one yet.  this right here is 8 days old.  it's been 13 now and it's still pretty pink!

get back into running.

I checked my runkeeper app last week and it's sadly been since June 17th since I've last gotten out.  I've been to a few spin classes since then but that's about it.  really need to get back into it!

follow fat mum slim's photo a day for July & August.

I've been doing pretty good for July!

start running to the beach in the evenings.

I clocked how far away the nearest beach in yesterday and it's 3.1km.  what better way to spend the evenings then going for a run then jumping in the ocean!?

beat the heat blog swap reveal!

the fabulous Linny and I hosted a blog swap awhile ago and now it's reveal time!!

I've never hosted a swap before so that made this one extra fun.  and I paired myself up with the awesome Lauren from Simply Southern.  Simply Lauren. who by the way has the cutest banner ever!

I am IN LOVE with the card!  I was having a shitty day when I picked up this package and when this is the first thing I pull out, it made my day ten times better!


so many goodies!!!
considering I got sunburnt last weekend, this after sun cream + the moisturizer was perfect!


love homemade popcicles.  and it came with a ton of recipes so it doesn't get much better then that.  
I threw some blueberries in a pot, sprinkled some sugar on top and simmered it for a little while.  they turned out delicious!


ugh I cannot tell you how obsessed I am with this!! and it comes with a strap that you put around the back of your head so you can pull it up on your forehead if you have a headache.  love it!

I missed last week but I am back with a vengeance! kind of. well, I'm just back... blogging has been meh lately, summer is just too busy! but honestly I love linking up/hosting RT, you guys make it awesome, HATED missing last week.

I haven't done any DIY projects in forever so I'm going to dip into my DIY page and show you my three faves!

first, the classic scarf organizer. I lived in tiny apartments with tiny closets for years so I needed something that worked! this did!

another classic but my favourite thing I've made.


this used to hang in my kitchen and I always got a million compliments on it. would love to make another! can't wait to dig through my home decor in storage (we didn't take anything like that to our current house) and put it back up.

ADORE this tank top! it's faded now but I still rock it paired with a pair of light purple shorts. such an easy thing to do and I really think tye dye is underrated!

random rambling

sooo blog everyday in June eh?  kind of a fail?  yup I think so.  I have had zero inspiration lately!  not a fan of blogging everyday when I have to, too much pressure and the posts just turn out shitty.

and I missed random thursday this week!!  first time in FOREVER!  I might write it up tomorrow, not that I have many summer plans but I still want to link up with everyone.

Luke's brother & friends were home all this week so we basically just laid on the beach, drank, visited and hung out the whole week.  really sad to see them go but I actually can't wait to get back into a routine.  I know I will be regretting saying that come Monday morning when I have to get up for work. I need to get back into eating three times a day, hitting up the gym at lunch, and going to bed before the next day starts.

so far I have gained weight since starting this diet bet too with Tamara so I need to get on top of that!  I had full intentions to get out running today (I haven't been out since June 17th!!!) but yesterday I got burnt to a crisp and could hardly move today.  so that was out!  see how I feel tomorrow, I want to win that mulah!!

alright, I need to go complain about my sun burn a bit more and get caught up on pretty little liars.

june blog day 25 - training tuesday

I'm pretty sure this will be a short training tuesday.  I feel as though I hit my 5k race mark and just stopped.  I'll find my motivation again someday!

first of all, 7 day slim down, not a TOTAL fail, but not a win that's for sure.  I actually stopped documenting it.  I like potatoes for supper too much.

I know I did a few walk/runs last week, and maybe half a workout here and there but I honestly can say I didn't do anything worth mentioning. 

except for monday!  Tam mentioned a couple weeks ago that she was doing an interval thing, 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off, pyramid style.  so of course I asked for her secrets.

did it Monday and holy hell it was the best workout ever!  attempted it Thursday and just didn't have the right mentality to do it but yesterday a co-worker and I did it at the gym.  sweat our non-existent balls off.  best workout of life.

basically you pick 10 random exercises and do them pyramid style.  do workout 1 & 2, then 1, 2, 3, then 1, 2, 3, 4, etc until you get to ten. 

not even kidding I haven't worked this hard in a class.  and I always quit stuff when I'm on my own.  it seems like it will last forever but with the tiny breaks it's over quicker then you think.

we only have about 40 minutes so we just picked 10 exercises and did it 35 seconds on 10 seconds off. someday I will make it to 50 on, 10 off!

from my memory this is what they were:

1. push ups
2. tricep kick backs
3. elevated lunges stepping on a bosu ball.
4. dumbbell row. 
5. burpees with weights.  worst things of life.
6. abs.  we did bicycle crunches.
7. squats on a bosu.
8. overhead press.
9. tricep dips.
10. plank.

I can't remember if this is completely it but it's some version of this!
