september favourites

Happy October!!
I think I am going to start doing a little monthly favourites series and since September just ended it's perfect timing! Basically it is just going to be a random list of everything I am loving for the month :)

Pretty random I know but since I started my new job I am able to have headphones in and listen to music or books or whatever so I'm loving that I get to listen to books all day! Audiobooks are super expensive (like $30 for new releases) so getting them for free from the library is pretty much the best thing ever. Currently reading the 3rd Gossip Girl book which I read in high school but forgot so much stuff about them.

These boots. Technically I only got them last night but c'mon they are adorable. And they were only $30 so ya can't go wrong.

Wine. And these wine glasses. I made them awhile ago and they are still just as good as the day I made them. I was nervous the glitter would chip off over time but they are still perfect. And the glitter doesn't come off when you're using them either.

A lot of the decor/furniture in my new place (it came furnished) is a total hit or miss. But this side table is awesome. I love old suitcases and especially when they are stacked for a cute table.

Reese Puffs are my all time fav cereal snack. Don't love them for breakfast because they are a little too sweet and chocolatey first thing in the morning.

And of course this little fart who tries to wreck my pictures…

Cheapest eye liner that I have ever found to work so well. It was $3 and stays on all day. I am not a huge make up wearer (usually just the basics) so I don't go for high end expensive stuff. Obviously I would love to but I can't justify spending $20 for an eyeliner.

Annd the best for last... this girl is obviously my all time favourite but her hair in the bath the other day definitely has to make this list. Her expressions pretty priceless too.

Alrighty that's it I think, happy first day of October!!

PS. I would love to see any favourites you have so if you do a post like this leave me the link in the comments!

random.. blog love

not that I'm having a bad day or anything but it was one of those days that was just long and dragging and I couldn't wait for it to be over so I could be on my way home. then this afternoon I got the sweetest email ever from a new blog friend Katrin.

like seriously. I know it's not a huge deal to a lot of people but this girl consistently reads my posts and always has the sweetest things to say! and her blog is amazing. it's one of those random blogs that throw a little bit of everything into it and every post is different. I mean, I love themed blogs and you know of you need something specific you go there but I really love that I never know what I'm gonna get with her!
I don't have Internet yet and don't love reading off my iPhone (which I'm posting this from) so I'm counting down the days until I get to creep the hell out of her blog again.
anyways, super random but I had to share her love with everyone!
happy Friday and cheers to the freakin weekend!!

fill in the blank friday

Fill in the blank with Lauren this week!

1.  Something I am very proud of is my sister.  Man that sounded lame as soon as I wrote it haha but it's true!  I just think she's the best mom ever and her husband has to go away for work for a month at a time so she kind of has to play the part of a single mom.  And my niece is amazing and pretty much the smartest little girl ever (I swear I'm not biased!) so she's doing a pretty kick ass job.

2.  My favorite thing about myself is um this one's kind of hard!  I like my hair I guess.  Got blond in it for the first time a couple weeks ago and I love it!

3.  My favorite color for fall is orang-y reds.  Not that I wear it a lot, reds not really my colour.  But I just love the bright leaf colours of fall.

4. Something I've been learning lately is that figuring out your dream job is super hard.  I have a job now that I really like but I don't know if I love it or if it's something I want to do forever.

5. A book I am reading now/have read recently is Defending Jacob by William Landay.  I totally random find through the library website and I loved it!

6. My favorite Pandora Station is have never listened ever...

7.  This weekend I will be going out with all my friends to hear a local artist play, he just released another album so we have to go support his awesomeness.

thursday thoughts

I haven't had internet in far too long but I am staying over at my sister's tonight so I'm doing the best I can to catch up on everyone's blogs!

Sarah's has to be one of my favourites so I knew I should do a quick little thursday thoughts post!

I'm so tired.  All the time.  I started a new job last week and it's an hour away from home so the drive sucks big time.  And I get off at 3:30 but I carpool and he's not off until 4 and it usually takes a half hour for him to pick me up/get out of the city.  So I'm off at 3:30 and don't get home until 5:30.  Sucks.

Grey's Anatomy starts tonight! Super pumped.  Although the show has definitely gone downhill the last couple seasons.

I love my new little house.  I don't have any pictures yet but I definitely want to do a little house tour ish post.  It's really small and it came furnished so not a lot of the decor is mine but I am adding my own touch to it.

Lin's doing a link up for the movie swap tomorrow on her blog and I can't wait to read what everyone got!  I'm super nervous though that my package sucks... hopefully Clare likes it!  I didn't get mine yet but it's coming from the other side of the world so I'm not worried that it's lost just yet.

I cannot even think right now! I think these are all my thoughts for the day...

Happy Thursday!

the list - 3

Wanna know what I'm talking about?  Go here.

Describe your relationship with your parents.

My parents rock.  They were always my biggest supporters in whatever I did.  And being the fourth child in the house, my siblings put them through all that fun stuff teenagers do so I think I got it kind of easy.

Growing up, I was totally a daddy's girl.  I wanted to hang out with him constantly and be just like him when I grew up.  He was the one who taught me how to shoot a basketball and pitch a softball.  I actually used to think he wished I was a boy haha.  He was one of my biggest supporter when it came to sports.  He hardly ever missed a game.  Most of our talks were based around which sport I was/going to be playing.

Without a doubt we don't have a perfect relationship.  We are both way too stubborn for our own good and both need to have the last word, and we are both always right.  We butt heads more then I'd like.  I guess we are too much alike in that sense.

I think I'll always kind of be a daddy's girl though.

My mom is my best friend.  Sounds totally cliche but it's true.  And no we don't have a perfect relationship (we have gotten into our fair share of arguments) but she's always the person I go to for anything.

Any ailment or heartbreak or anything she is the first to know.  And she's got my back regardless.  If I have any sickness whatsoever I call my mom and list off my symptoms and do whatever she tells me to.  My sister and I joke that this commercial describes us perfectly.  She is totally the person that stands up for her kids no matter what.  No one talks shit about us to our mom.

She's always been there for me.  Living away from home I missed her so much but she was just a phone call or email away.  And she always listened.  Even if I was being ridiculous.  But she never hesitated to give me her opinion, good or bad.  Which I value so much.  Any problem I have I'm always asking  "well would you?  should I? what do you think?" and I know she'll be honest.

She's one of the most amazing people I know and I'm so so lucky to have the relationship with her that we do now.

Holy hannah I miss blogging.  Just got back from TO last night then had to work all day today and then this evening I found out I have to be out of my house this weekend.  It's basically falling down around me and just found out the basement is flooded.  So I called my soon to be landlord and asked if we could move in Friday and she gave us the go ahead which is pretty sweet.  But going to be crazy hectic considering I will be gone for 10 hours every day until then!  Thank goodness for Luke or it would never get done.

So considering my life is going to be crazy for the next little bit I won't be writing until next week!  Check out my blog love page for some amazing blogs to read though :)

the list - 2

Wanna know what I'm talking about?  Go here.

Describe 3 legitimate fears you explain have and how they became fears.

1.  It's not really a huge deal but not having a plan totally freaks me out.  I am so that person who wants to know what's happening at what time with who.  It's ridiculous I know, I'm only 23 and just finished school so how the heck am I supposed to have a plan for right now but that doesn't mean I don't want one!  I really don't know if this is a fear but in a way it does freak me out, so that makes it a fear right?

2.  I am terrified of losing someone I love.  The only person I have ever really lost was my grandfather and he was almost 90 and I was young and I guess it wasn't really a huge shock or anything.  It wasn't a good thing he died but it just wasn't super unexpected or anything.

I guess I'm so scared because I never have.  And so many people around me have.  So it's kind of like, why haven't I?  I'm not this super special person that doesn't deserve bad things right so it could actually happen at any moment.  That scares the shit out of me.  Ugh it makes me sick.

People sometimes comment on how I constantly throw in 'love ya' any time I'm hanging up the phone or saying goodbye (even if I'm only going to the store for soup) but I just want them to know that I do love them more then anything, and anything can happen!  Ever.  I'm being morbid I know.

3.  I am beyond terrified of not being able to have kids.  Like so bad.  I don't know why but I just think my body will never let it happen.  I see a pregnant lady, or see the connection my niece has with my sister and I just want that so bad.  I want to be a baby's everything.  I want to carry a child that's a part of me, and that looks like me or has my mom's eyes or my brothers nose or some trait from their father's aunt.

How this became a fear I'm not really sure... I'm kind of cheating on this one :)

the list - 1

Wanna know what I'm talking about?  Go here.

Name 20 random facts about yourself.

1.  I love to craft.  I would 24/7 if I had enough money, time, and ideas.

2.  I wish I could play the guitar.  I own one but have never taken the time to learn.

3.  I went to New York City for the first time this July.  Our flights got delayed in Montreal for over 5 hours which eventually ended up cancelled.  We had to take the Greyhound to NYC for 8 hours in the middle of the night and didn't get there until the day after we were supposed to.  Quite the experience!

4.  I believe in karma.

5.  I've got 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 brother-in-law, 1 niece, and 2 parents.

6.  I hated and sucked at school.

7.  No one in my real life (besides my sisters, mom, and boyfriend) know about this blog.  I think I'm scared of people seeing it and judging me or it.

8.  I hate feet.  Yours AND mine.

9.  I was about 2 years late getting into the vampire/twilight stuff and now love it.  Can't wait for the Vampire Diaries to come back on!

10.  When I'm sick I always want my mom.  And I almost always cry when I talk to her if I'm any bit upset.

11.  I used to play every sport I could when I was in high school.  Basketball was my favourite and I got to go to Canada Games for it in 2009.  Amazing experience!  I miss it so much now though.

12.  I'm a nervous driver.

13.  I hate not having a plan.

14.  I'd love to travel but hate being away from my family for too long.

15.  I taught myself how to knit the last time Lukas and I were in Toronto and I haven't stopped since.

16.  I went in the ditch for the first time this winter.  I was driving my sister and my niece and we only went in the ditch a tiny bit, no one was hurt and no one was coming but not having control of the car scared the crap out of me.  I cried in spurts for the whole entire day.

17.  I love my personal space.  I honestly cannot stand people touching me.  I just think it's so unnecessary.  It's weird I know.

18.  Luke and I grew up in the same small town and went to high school together one grade apart but never spoke a word to each other.  One night out we were both talking to a mutual friend and then began talking/texting secretively for about 2 months (we totally thought no one had a clue but after we started telling people we were dating, they all knew).  And now we've been together for 4 years!

19.  I want to be a runner but have always hated it.

20.  I daydream constantly.

10 on Tuesday

1. I'm in Toronto, Ontario! Lukas' brothers live here and they flew us up as a graduation present. so incredibly grateful and pumped to be here.

2. the weather is supposed to be beautiful here and it's been shit back home. there's like the tail end of hurricanes and it's been raining constantly so seeing sunshine is pretty sweet.

3. Lukas' brother's girlfriend has a cat Rayne and he is the cutest! so friendly, love having a cat to cuddle with up here. missing Smudge though.

4. I can't believe it's been 11 years since the 9/11 attacks. I was in grade 7 and my normally funny, goofy teacher told us about them. crazy.

5. my aunt is flying home today from British Columbia so it sucks that I'm missing her for the first few days of her trip but she is around for 2 weeks so I will see lots of her when I get home.

6. I think the movie swap partners are going to be announced soon so I can't wait for that!

7. I had a job interview yesterday before we flew out and it went alright. I have an in person one next Wednesday. but they said its going to be all behavioral questions like "give an example of a time when you ..." and I hate those ones! I can never think of an example! and the interviews expected to be 2 hours. barf.

8. Katie is going to be walking any day now on her own. my selfish self doesn't want her to do when I'm away.

9. I watched what to expect when you're expecting on the flight up and it was hilarious! go watch it if you haven't.

10. I think I'm all out of ideas. and energy. I'm starved so I gotta go on the hunt for breakfast. hate rooting through other peoples cupboards but it's about to be done!

happy Tuesday!!

photo a day

I don't have a picture for Sunday... I may or may not have laid on the couch all day with a minor hangover...

Lukas and I grabbed an ice cream and went down to the wharf to enjoy them with this beautiful sunset.

I was relaxing on the couch after work when this guy wanted some cuddles.

I sadly realized that I wouldn't get to enjoy this amazing view on my way to work after this week.  This picture doesn't even do this view justice.  It is so beautiful up east, potato fields and the ocean go on for miles.

Luke was packing (he went away for the weekend) and Smudge wanted to go with him.

I went to my sisters to watch The Lucky One (not amazing but not horrible, I'm still drooling over Zac Efron) and Rocco joined us.  This guy is the biggest cuddle bug ever.

Hung out with this beautiful girl all day Saturday!

Everyday with the Jays

Another great week!

fill in the blank friday

1.  My favorite grade in school was grade 12.  Loved being the oldest in the school, my part time job was awesome, and played every sport I could.

2.  My favorite teacher was /is really hard to think of! because, I guess I didn't have a favorite teacher.  Is that sad? I'm not a school person, I mostly hated it.

3.  The highest level of education I have completed is a Bachelor's of Business Administration.

4. School lunches for me were usually cafeteria food.  I don't know why but I did not love leftovers, still trying to get the hang of them now!  Usually had fries or pizza or cookies, you know, all the healthy stuff.

5. The amount of money you'd have to pay me to go back to high school would be a shit load.

6. A few things that will always remind me of going back to school are:  new school supplies.  Best part of school by far!  I love new school supplies.  I'd buy a notebook every time I was in a store if I could afford it.

7.  The first day of school was always exciting!  I loved the first day/week.  New stuff, the ambition to study and get awesome grades.  That usually lasted about a week and a half :)

ps. how cute is this button!  click it to see where I linked up!!

high five for friday

Beautiful flowers for my last day of work from my boss and coworkers :)  They smell just as good as they look and who wouldn't love that sticker!  Very nice last day.

T-minus 3 days until I will be in the vicinity of these bad boys!  Really hope we get to the Safari when we are in Toronto.  Cannot wait.

We found a house to rent!  It is the cutest little cottage (and I mean little!) but it's 2 bedroom which is perfect for us.  We can have the second room for basically all my junk!  It comes fully furnished which has pros and cons.  Pros being we don't have to bring anything except our clothes, cons being some of it isn't exactly my style and I won't really get to do much decorating.  Yesterday at lunch I mentioned to my coworker that we were looking for a place and five minutes later I was on the phone with a friend of a friend who had a spot!  Love this small town :)

Got these in the mail yesterday from these lovely ladies!  Love mail so that was the first bonus, and these were just as cute as I thought they would be!  Have one in right now.

It's Friday!  That pretty much deserves it's own number considering it is almost the weekend, I get to hang out with my niece and sister this evening and then our other sister comes up Sunday for a sleepover/hangout/BB watch.

Have a good weekend yo!

thursday thoughts

Second last day of work!  Pretty excited to be done here.  Loved this job in the spring but July and August has been brutally slow.  Fingers crossed I get the casual position I'm hoping for!  and I have a phone interview Monday so fingers crossed for that one too!

big brother's on tonight!  slightly obsessed with this show. Canyatell!

I've started knitting again.  Need to get some items up on my etsy shop before winter!  I found this knitted cuff in my stash.

Personally I love it.  Thoughts?

Four days until Toronto!!  Cannot wait to go and drink and eat and wander around downtown Toronto!  We are hoping to go to the Safari and the Comedy Club but other then that just eat out, drink lots, and have a good time.

Katie's semi walking!!  On Sunday my sisters and I sat in a triangle and she walked between us.  She was giving her and was so proud of herself after every step!  I feel like any day she will be running around by herself.  Here's a ridiculously cute video of her :)

My brother is moving out west tomorrow which sucks but he will be able to come home whenever which is good!  We all went out to eat last night at a really nice restaurant last night.  The service kind of sucked but the food was fantastic.

Tonight I am going out to eat again with a friend I haven't hung out with in a while so that should be fun!

I think that's all for now!  Happy Thursday!!

best of... tunes

I've been watching Luke Conard's youtube videos for awhile now, mostly his personal vlogs.  Every now and then he does a cover of a song and I just fall in love.  This is an oldie but it just came on my iPod so I thought I'd share :)

Check out Luke's channels here and here.
Check out Austin's channels here and here.

blog love: Linny's Vault

Do you know Lin?

Well you should.  She's hilarious.  I just found her about a week ago and I find myself checking her blog first every day.

She's hosting a movie night swap right now.  I've never done a swap before so I had to try one out and I figured a movie night would be a pretty cool idea!

Go sign up now!!

I slept on it...

oh so pretty: the diaries posted the simplest little hair trick the other day. It's something I've been doing for a while now but I figured I'd show how it turns out on my hair.

first, French braid your hair..

then go to bed! I also put some styling products in mine. I put the mousse in before I braided and the hairspray in after to keep down the sprigs.

then in the morning I got this!

and yes I totally edited this pic to try to make myself look not so tired :)

photo a day

Sunday was spent laying on the beach with my sisters, mom and Katie.  So lucky I live 2 minutes away from this place.

I went to my sisters Monday evening to babysit Katie for the week so I got in as many cuddles with Smudge as I could :)

The first morning I woke up babysitting Katie.  she's totally rocking a Biebs hair style at 5:30 in the morning.

Besides baby sitting Katie I got to babysit these cuddle boys who like to try and steal my side of the bed.  well, all sides lol.  also, bed best ever to sleep in!

We like to sit on the step up from the living room and hang out in the mornings haha this was taken in the exact same spot as on Tuesday but it's too adorable not to include.  and babysitting 24/7 minus when I'm at work is very time consuming and I haven't done much else but hang out with this chick!

This picture is technically from 3 years ago at Canada's Wonderland, but on Friday we booked our tickets to Toronto!!  Luke's bros offered us tickets up there for a week as a graduation gift!  Best 'pretty much' in-laws ever.

Luke's best friend is going back out west on Wednesday so him and his girlfriend had a couple people over as a little going away party.
